POV: Derin Faye
Sweat ran down my back as I paced in front of the Big House. I haven't talked to her in such a long time, I just don't know what to say to her. I finally stopped and faced the front door. Just do it, you love her. I mustered up my courage and walked inside.
Chiron sat in his magical wheelchair reading a book while Mr. D was snoring in the pinocle cards. Chiron noticed me coming and said with a serious face, "Well Derin, if you want Mr. D, let me get the rest of the campers in the emergency shelter while you wake him." Then his face softened and he smiled. "What can I help you with?" Ahhh Zeus's hairy armpits... I sighed and said, "I need to make a phone call....and it is important." He nodded and replied, "Sure, phone is in the hall."
I walked into the hall and dialed the LA number I knew by heart. It rang for what felt like and eternity then a familiar female voice answered, "Hello?" I bit my lip a little and said, "Hey...Alexis, umm it's Derin."
"Derin? Oh my gosh, I've missed you so much. Where have you been?"
"Ummm...I found out my mom wasn't who I thought she was and as a result I had to move to New York to.....understand things better."
"Derin... you've got to tell me these kind of things. I worry about you. "
"I know, it's just it's been hard. I don't get to make phone calls, but I had to talk t0 you."
"Why now Derin? You could have done this a while ago."
"I needed to make sure you knew that, I love you. I needed to tell you before anything else happens."
"Wait..Something happened?"
Ahhh Shit..."Ohh, I had a little accident. It's nothing much."
"WHAT? I'm coming to New York to see you."
"No, if I leave my girlfriend is going to freak."
"Girlfriend? Now we definitely have to talk. I'll call you tomorrow to make plans."
"Ahhh, damn. Alright, love you Lex."
"Love you too."
I heard a scuffle behind me and I froze...and dropped the phone. I turned to whoever was behind me while I looked at my feet and said, "It's n-n-not what you think." Great, explaining is going to be fun.
